It's time to share some good news...
So often we ask for prayers for those things we need help on, but we would like to provide the space to share good things that are happening in the lives of our families and parishioners.

Amy Bueno entered cooking training while in her 2nd year at Barry Goldwater of High School. Having the opportunity to enter a competition where she was selected together with older classmates, as part of the team to represent her school. She was the youngest of the group.
Into her 3rd year of high school, she presented a team project at JW Marriott where she received a job offer. Once there she showed that her age was no impediment to live up to those already experienced and established in the kitchen area. Amy competes in all possible events with a priority. Her main objective was to win all possible scholarships to move forward, because she realized that this race is of a high economic cost.
During one of the competitions, Amy attracted the attention of one of the judges, an experienced Chef that has his own independent restaurant and haute cuisine, and he invited her to work in his restaurant. Of course she accepted so that she can continue to grow her skills in the kitchen environment.
Amy has some difficulty with time coordination to go to school, work with the Chef and help in with the BGHS project of opening a restaurant. Avenue 27 is a student run restaurant where she was appointed coordinator. She was responsible for ideas and contributed from construction to the opening.
On January 26 2019, she was awarded the first place for finding a new dish on the menu with a specific budget. Amy’s dish had better presentation and was healthier, winning her a $5,000.00 scholarship and being televised on local Channel 10!
It was not until the end of the last semester where Amy again participated in another competition, winning a scholarship to study in New York!! Shortly after being in New York, entering another competition with 51 more students where they would select only 5 to represent the university. We proudly share that she is part of the 5 selected!
The road that has come to get where it is has not been easy but we have a lot of faith that will continue to achieve more triumphs until it is titled as a professional Chef!
Our daughter is a great example that putting all the desire to what she likes has great rewards!
