Thoughts for the week.....
"Merry Christmas, This week we will discuss the real story of Christmas. We will explore how modern adaptation differs and sometimes strays from the actual biblical story and a real lesson. The teens will describe Christmas as we see it on tv today, with Santa and elves and toys and candy and lights and all the things that go with modern Christmas. We will contrast that with what the bible tells us about the birth of Christ. A simple, lowly affair without any family around, in a cold cave or manger surrounded by animals and the baby Jesus wrapped in what (swaddling) clothes Mary could provide. From this lowly station Jesus was born to become the savior of all mankind. We learn from this how God demonstrates to us and teaches us that he can make of an ordinary or even less than ordinary, humble beginning the most powerful works and blessings. We should strive in our lives to put aside the things we design and live by God's design for us which is simple, humble and will give us peace."
