Congratulations Parents - You did it!!!! |
Felicitaciones padres. ¡¡¡Lo lograron !!!! |
You are good parents. You care about your kids. You invested your time and energy for 3 years in order for you kids to receive sacraments. Please take a minute to be proud of YOUR accomplishments, God is with you.
This investment will yield fruits if you continue to bring your children to church. They still depend on your care in order to stay in touch with God. Your children are welcome to continue to attend our classes free of charge. We hope your kids become altar servers on Sundays. Let the Parish Office know if they are interested. You as parents are welcome to continue attending parent groups. We have other groups at other times, let us know if you are interested. I'm sure you noticed our volunteers who took time to prepare and come to teach your children every week, for 3 years. They love your children. Please keep the teachers in your prayers. |
A confirmation sponsor is supposed to be a good Catholic role model. That's why logically this person needs to have all of their sacraments, married in the church if that applies, registered and attending Mass in a parish. Not to mention that they set a good example by living a Christian life.
Not every family member or friend meets the above conditions, in such a case, we recommend you keep looking. It may be someone that you know from St. Luke, possibly your child's RE Teacher.

Choosing a confirmation name is an important step on the path to living a devoted, holy life in the Catholic Church. Your confirmation name, typically the name of a saint, will serve both as a reminder to your commitment to God and as your inspiration for being a steward of the church. There are many methods for choosing a saint's name, such as picking based on shared traits and skills or finding your patron saint based on your birthday. The most important thing to keep in mind, however, is that you should think deeply and pray about your confirmation name.
Before you choose, take a look at the Saints we have at St. Luke. |

Choosing a sponsor for Confirmation
Why do we need sponsors? Sponsors are: a good example and in full communion with the church real people who accompany us on the journey to God a support for parents in their religious education a sign that those receiving Confirmation become part of the big community of the Church Confirmation sponsors are members of the Church who are sinners - as we all are - but who repent and do their best to live according to God's will. They have to attend church regularly and be able to prove their membership in a parish. They need to be married in church or live alone. If you cannot find suitable sponsors within your family, please take a look at our parish members that you have come to know over the years. They may become much better examples and friends for your children - who will be able to relate to them - rather than a loving auntie or uncle whom your children will see only once in their lifetime at the ceremony. Nurturing and practicing your friendship with God Please keep in mind that Confirmation and First Communion are the beginning of active participation in the life of the Church. Reflect on how you and your children would like to continue listening to God and staying in a relationship with Him after the ceremony as well as on how you and your children would like to get involved in the Church’s Ministry. We offer groups for adults, teens and children. |
